wondering if you could get your hands on a few switch rods and provide a review with what you like or dislike about each rod? Get the KYPE crew together and have at it..........Almost every rod company is selling some sort of switch rod--- It would be neat to see how the mid-priced sticks hold up against the OUTRAGEOUSLY prices sticks --- that would make for some great reading The Redington: 11 foot 3 inches is pretty long.........The winston at 11 feet seemed like overkill on Erie tribs............worked nicely on the Salmon River though...... switch rod shootout: TFO Meiser ST. Croix Winston G-Loomis Rainshadow Beulah Scott Redington Orvis Sage Echo Throw out the price range aspect and let them compete.......they are SWITCH rods and designed to cast 2 ways--all are geared to more or less do the same thing Lining them might be tough, what works for one--won't work for another........... Whatcha' Think?

I have owned: Beulah 4/5 Beulah 9/10 Winston 11 foot 7 wt Loved the winston for steelhead and salmon---yes, salmon----fished this with Beulah 6/7 Elixer line with a Fly Logic FLO 789 reel -- this was a perfect steelhead outfit..........great to fish with on the Salmon River -- a little long on PA Erie tribs, minus lower Elk--- I mean what is the sense of having a rod capable of lauching a spool full of line if you only have to roll cast a few feet the Beulah 9/10 was a monster on the Salmon River--the 8/9 would probably have suited me better--but I am pretty sure I could have landed a shark on this rod-----fished this with Rio steelhead/salmon 10 wt line--it was a monster casting one handed---it threw some line......the reel I used was a LOOP CLW 8-12 -- two-handed, monster again....I'd bet that with a special cut line or something a little heavier it could cast from New York to Connecticut the Beulah 4/5 was nice for a longer trout rod and made nymphing a piece of cake---this rod would work for steelhead, but I would rather the 5/6 or 6/7 for steelhead--fished this with matching beulah Elixer line and a Fly Logic FLP 567 reel I have sold all three----work injury that led to retirement--which led to having more bills than money coming into the house-----but I am always looking for a good deal........... I would love to get my hands on a 9'9" meiser switch rod-- I think that size would be perfect for Erie tribs----fishing an 11 foot stick on tight Erie waters is sometimes a pain----
